Warranty & Terms – Performance Services
1. Intended Use
Oztrack performance parts and services include:
Dyno tuning
Camshaft upgrades
Supercharger installations
Fuel system upgrades
Engine reconditioning and assembly
Performance engine builds (street and race applications)
These services increase power and often increase RPM, cylinder pressure, and mechanical load.
All performance parts and services are supplied for motorsport and off-road use unless otherwise agreed in writing.
2. Nature of Performance Modifications
When you increase power, you increase stress on internal and external parts and accessories including but not limited to;
Pistons, rings, rods, crankshaft
Bearings and oiling system
Valvetrain
Cooling system
Transmission, clutch, driveline
Fuel system
Idle pulleys, belts and belt driven accessories
Higher RPM use reduces service life compared to factory specifications.
If you choose performance upgrades, you accept the increased mechanical risk and reduced service life that comes with them.
3. Warranty Coverage
Claims must be made within 30 days of completion.
Warranty is limited strictly to:
-Verified installation errors performed by Oztrack
-Parts that we supplied proven to have a manufacturer defect
If a verified installation error by Oztrack is confirmed
Warranty will cover all the same parts initially supplied and labour required to rectify the problem to the same condition as it was immediately prior to the problem.
4. What Is Not Covered
The following are not covered under any circumstances:
Consequential extra engine damage – damage that happens after the engines first incident and then it is still driven or run.
Labour costs beyond replacing the faulty part
Towing or transport
Vehicle downtime or loss of income
Damage from racing or track use
Abuse, over-revving, missed shifts
Detonation, poor fuel quality, contamination
Cooling or lubrication failures
Third-party tuning or modifications after our work
External mechanical failure of unrelated components
If you race a performance engine or supercharged vehicle, the warranty will not apply. This also includes using the vehicle in competition or beyond safe limits.
5. Race Engines
Race engines and competition builds:
Carry no warranty
Are built for high-load competition use
Require strict maintenance schedules
Have significantly reduced service life compared to factory engines
You are responsible for monitoring:
Oil pressure
Fuel quality
AFR and knock
Engine temperature
RPM limits
6. Dyno Tuning
Dyno tuning is performed on a controlled Hub Dyno environment.
Results depend on:
Mechanical condition of the engine
Fuel quality
Fuel system capacity
Ignition system condition
Cooling system efficiency
- Exhaust system flow
We do not warrant power figures achieved.
We do not warrant engine longevity after tuning.
7. Supercharger & Fuel System Upgrades
Forced induction increases:
Cylinder pressure
Thermal load
Fuel demand
Failures caused by:
Fuel starvation
Injector limitation
- Blocked Cats
Pump failure
Contaminated fuel
Lean operation
Excessive boost
Owner adjustments
Are not covered.
8. Inspection & Claim Process
If an issue occurs:
Stop operating the vehicle immediately
Do not restart the engine
Do not disassemble any components
Do not authorise third-party repairs
Return the vehicle or engine to Oztrack in the same condition it was in when the issue occurred
Failure to follow this process voids any claim.
We will inspect and determine whether the issue relates to:
Installation error
Manufacturer defect
Mechanical failure unrelated to our work
Misuse, over-revving, detonation, or external cause
Communication & Conduct
We are committed to resolving concerns professionally and based on mechanical evidence.
All communication must remain:
Civil
Respectful
Fact-based
Abusive, threatening, or defamatory communication will not be responded to.
This includes:
Personal attacks
Demands made in an aggressive manner
Repeated after business hours messages intended to pressure staff
Accusations made before inspection
Our business operates during normal business hours. M-F 9am to 5pm
Emails sent outside business hours will be reviewed and responded to during office hours only.
Staff are not required to respond to messages during evenings, weekends, or leave periods.
If communication becomes unreasonable, we reserve the right to:
Cease written communication
Require communication to occur by phone or in person
Require all communication to occur during business hours only
Refuse further non-essential engagement
We will not engage in arguments by email.
Mechanical concerns must be resolved through inspection and data review, not assumptions.
We will work with you to:
Diagnose the issue properly
Review relevant data
Identify the mechanical cause
Determine whether the issue falls within our warranty terms
We aim to resolve matters efficiently and fairly, and where possible, in the most cost-effective way, even where the failure is outside our control.
Respectful communication allows us to focus on solving the problem.
9. NSW Consumer Law
Nothing in these terms excludes your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Where applicable, remedies are limited to those permitted by law.
10. Explanation of Common LS V8 Engine Issues
Valve Seat Drop – 6.0L & 6.2L GM Cylinder Heads

Certain factory GM 6.0L and 6.2L cylinder heads used in VE and VF models are known to experience valve seat drop.
The intake valve seats are cast iron inserts installed into aluminium cylinder heads. They rely on an interference fit that may be as small as:
0.001–0.003 inch
Over time, or after overheating (typically above 120°C), the aluminium can lose grip on the seat.
When this occurs:
The valve seat drops
The valve can jam in a lower position
The piston contacts the valve
Damage can range from:
Broken rocker arms
Bent valves
Damaged or destroyed pistons
Cracked cylinder heads
Cracked engine blocks
This failure can occur on completely standard engines.
Common symptoms:
Engine runs normally
Vehicle is parked warm
On restart there is a sudden clunk or misfire,. then mechanical noise.
Often occurs after stopping for fuel when the engine is hot from solid driving.
If you suspect valve seat drop:
Do not restart the engine
The only permanent prevention is replacing intake valve seats with correctly machined seats that have improved interference fit. We offer cylinder heads with this upgrade as a recommended option.
New factory heads may reduce risk temporarily but do not permanently eliminate the design weakness.
Flexplate and Flexplate Bolts
Extra torque can put more load on flexplate bolts and the flexplate. This can introduce as rattle that is unsettling since it sounds like it is in the engine. The only way to rectify this is with new bolts and a flexplate. We can replace with one that is a better standard than the GM version. To do this the gearbox needs to be removed. This is an optional job and is unrelated to the work done unless we were paid to supply and install a new flexplate. Also some models have flexplate bolts prone to loosening from factory.
Bent Valve/s
Bent valves can be caused by a mechanical over-rev.Aged valve springs can allow valve float and bounce.Burnouts can cause excess heat in the valve springs. These create situations where vlaves can be bent.
Clearance of piston to valve is assessed on assembly and proven during tuning. If valves bend later on on it is not covered under warranty unless there is mistake in assembly (which would normally appear during tuning).
Bearing Failure after Cam Upgrade
Cam upgrades replace the lifters and valve springs, as well as the cam and better pushrods. The work is done in the top end of the engine. Bearing failure is in the bottom end and is a effect of bearing wear. There are cam bearings, conrod bearings and main bearings. These can only be replaced during an engine rebuild. The bearings are not covered under warranty from a cam upgrade. The best way to prevent bearing failure and wear, is to use the correct grade oil and do frequent oil changes.

11. Parts Selection & Reliability Approach
We choose components to maximise reliability in performance applications.
Typical choices include:
Dual valve springs – if one spring fails, the second retains the valve preventing valve drop.
LS7 lifters with new buckets – strong long-term reliability record in our builds
GM multi-layer steel head gaskets
LSA oil pump for improved pressure and volume
Rollmaster Pro timing chain where applicable
Replacement of plastic tensioner with a dampener block zero failure rate
CNC ported heads with valve servicing
Replacement intake valve seats on rectangular port 6.0L/6.2L heads when required
When replacing components such as:
Water pumps
Starter motors
Ancillary items
We use parts with a proven service record.
12. Owner Responsibilities After Performance Modifications
Performance engines and tuned vehicles require higher maintenance standards than factory vehicles.
By proceeding with modifications, you agree to the following responsibilities.
Fuel Requirements
Only use the minimum fuel octane specified at time of tune. Usually on 98 unless specified and noted.
E85 vehicles must use quality, tested ethanol fuel
Do not mix fuel types unless retuned
Do not operate the vehicle if fuel quality is uncertain
Damage from poor fuel, low octane, contaminated fuel, or ethanol content variation is not covered.
Oil & Maintenance
Use the oil grade specified by Oztrack
Check oil level regularly
Change oil and filter at reduced intervals appropriate for performance use <7500km each change
Monitor oil pressure
Oil starvation, contamination, or neglected servicing voids any claim.
RPM & Driving Limits
Do not exceed the programmed rev limiter
Avoid sustained over-revving
Avoid missed shifts or mechanical over-rev
Manual transmission over-rev events are detectable and not covered
Higher RPM reduces engine life. This is normal for performance engines.
Boosted & Supercharged Vehicles
Do not alter pulley sizes
Do not increase boost
Do not adjust boost control
Do not install different injectors or fuel pumps without recalibration
- Monitor catalytic converters for not being blocked
- Ensure the water to air intercooler system has maximum coolant and a functioning circulating pump.
Running lean or exceeding designed boost levels voids any claim.
Tuning Integrity
Do not install third-party tunes
Do not flash the ECU after our calibration
Do not modify airflow, fuel system, or engine hardware without retuning
Any changes after delivery require recalibration.
Damage caused by altered tuning is not covered.
Monitoring
You are responsible for monitoring:
Engine temperature
Oil pressure
Fuel pressure (where applicable)
AFR / wideband (if fitted)
Warning lights or abnormal noises
If a fault is suspected:
Stop driving immediately
Continuing to operate a vehicle after signs of a fault will void any claim.
13. Pre-Existing Condition
Performance tuning does not repair worn or damaged engines.
You are responsible for ensuring the engine is mechanically sound before modification.
We are not responsible for failure caused by:
Worn piston rings
Bearing wear
Previous overheating
Pre-existing detonation damage
Weak valve springs
High kilometre fatigue
Poor prior repairs
A dyno session does not certify engine health.
14. Used Engines & Customer-Supplied Parts
If we assemble or modify inc cam upgrade:
A used engine
A high-kilometre engine
Customer-supplied parts
No warranty applies to:
Unknown internal wear of engine or gearbox or other components
Hidden cracks
Metallurgical fatigue
Incorrect previous machining
Customer-supplied parts carry no warranty from Oztrack.
