DIRECT SUPPLY FUEL MODULE VS. OTHER FUEL SUPPLY METHODS

Until now, the main fuel system solutions have been to increase the voltage to the fuel pumps. Another option is to replace the fuel module canister with a hanger manifold. This manifold can hold one or more pumps. Lastly, some have modified the direct supply fuel system into an older return-style fuel system.All these methods have been a stop-gap solution, however with limitations;

Voltage boosted Pumps

A fuel pump operating at higher voltages than designed for can run hotter. This can lead to a shorter service life for the pump. This adds extra load to your vehicle’s electrical/charging system. It also creates a hot fuel environment. This reduces your ability to optimize performance. As a result, it leads to higher fuel usage and less stable tuning.

Hanger manifolds

Hanger manifolds take the place of the fuel module in your fuel tank. This change allows for more space for multiple pumps, which can improve fuel delivery.Hanger manifolds differ from fuel modules because they lack a canister, venturi pump, or refill valve system. This means the pumps are not always surrounded by fuel. You should keep a full fuel tank at all times. This helps stop fuel surges or starvation. This is important during fast driving, cornering, or hard acceleration. These situations often happen in racing or drag conditions.

Return Style Modified Systems

Modifying your original equipment manufacturer (OEM) direct supply system to a return-style system is a useful upgrade. This change is especially important when retrofitting larger fuel pumps. A return-style system helps keep your in-tank canister full of fuel. This constant flow of return fuel helps prevent issues like surge and starvation in the fuel system. This method was accepted in OEM vehicles 10-15 years ago. However, this setup requires the fuel pressure regulator to be mounted externally, usually at the engine fuel rail. It also needs double the amount of fuel lines. As fuel demand increases, the current draw of the fuel pump also rises.This situation leads to hot fuel returning to the system. This reduces your ability to optimize performance. It also increases the risk of vaporization. As a result, you may experience higher fuel usage and less stable tuning.Alternatively, a direct supply fuel system delivers cool, dense fuel from the tank without recirculation. This design creates a more efficient and modern high-performance fuel system.

Fuel Module

The KPM 1000 hp Fuel Module is designed with the best fuel pumps for high flow and performance. It is all contained in an OEM-style high-flow fuel canister and distribution manifold. The KPM fuel module is mounted and immersed in the vehicle’s fuel tank as per OEM design and for ease of fitment. This design incorporates a dual-acting Venturi pump and refill valve system to keep the fuel canister full permanently.This means you can use the KPM fuel module at any fuel level safely. It works well in all conditions. There is no risk of surge or fuel starvation. This includes spirited driving, circuit days, or drag racing.The fuel pumps are fully compatible with both petrol and ethanol. They can deliver large amounts of cool, dense fuel at standard vehicle voltages.This equates to optimum tuning and power levels up to 1000 hp (flywheel rated on 98 octane fuel). We use these regularly with Harrop 2300 superchargers and make 480-520 rwkw regularly. This is with much less fuel pressure drop

NOTE- We supply and/or install the 800HP version in VE 2006-2009 models for $600 less. But it is maxed out with our typical Harrop 2300 installs. Plus, the later models from 2010 onward stock fuel pump are similar in power support.
