CUSTOM CALIBRATION UNDER CONTROLLED LOAD

What Is Dyno Tuning?

Dyno tuning allows us to operate your vehicle under controlled load while recording engine, transmission and performance data. This lets us assess the calibration throughout the RPM and load range rather than relying only on short road logs.

The ECU calibration can then be adjusted to suit the vehicle’s actual hardware, fuel and intended use. Depending on the vehicle, this can include fuel delivery, ignition timing, airflow modelling, throttle response, idle control, torque management and supported automatic-transmission settings.

WHY CHOOSE OZTRACK?

Dyno Tuning Backed by Real Workshop Experience

More than 835 vehicles have been tuned on Oztrack’s Mainline ProHub hub dyno. Our Penrith workshop also builds, rebuilds and machines LS engines in-house, giving us practical understanding of the mechanical systems behind the calibration.

Mainline ProHub accuracy

The driven wheels are removed and the dyno connects directly to the hubs, eliminating tyre slip and strap variation.

In-house LS knowledge

Our engine rebuilding and machining experience helps us recognise when a problem is mechanical rather than something that should be hidden in the tune.

Engine and transmission tuning

Where supported, we calibrate both the engine ECU and automatic transmission controller so power delivery and shifting work together.

Real data across the RPM range

Relevant data is monitored under controlled load so changes can be checked rather than assumed.

Drivability as well as power

A successful tune should start, idle, cruise and transition cleanly—not just make a strong peak number.

Penrith workshop support

Fuel, ignition, sensor, wiring and mechanical faults can be identified before further tuning continues.

REAL WORKSHOP EXPERIENCE

More Than 835 Vehicles Tuned

Our dyno experience includes standard vehicles, camshaft packages, stroker engines, supercharged combinations, turbocharged vehicles, transmission upgrades and engine conversions.

The same workshop performs LS engine machining, rebuilding, camshaft upgrades and supercharger installations, allowing the tune and hardware to be considered as one system.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A DYNO TUNE?

The Oztrack Dyno-Tuning Process

1

Vehicle review

We confirm the engine, transmission, fuel, hardware, modifications and intended use.

2

Inspection and ECU read

Diagnostic codes are reviewed and the original supported controller files are read.

3

Connect to the ProHub

The driven wheels are removed and the vehicle hubs connect directly to the dyno modules.

4

Baseline and logging

Initial runs assess fuelling, spark, knock, airflow, temperatures and transmission behaviour.

5

Custom calibration

The tune is adjusted to suit the individual vehicle, then flashed and tested.

6

Repeat and refine

Runs are repeated while the calibration is refined across the required load and RPM range.

7

Drivability checks

Idle, throttle response, cruise behaviour and supported transmission operation are checked.

8

Results and handover

The final calibration, dyno result and any recommendations are reviewed with the customer.

REAL DATA, NOT A GENERIC CLAIM

A Real Oztrack Dyno Graph

A dyno graph records measured power and torque. The logged ECU and transmission data behind the graph is also used to verify fuelling, spark, temperatures and operating behaviour.

Peak power is only one part of the result. We also look for smooth delivery, repeatability, safe operation and behaviour that suits how the vehicle will be driven.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Dyno Tuning FAQs

How long does a dyno tune take?

The time depends on the vehicle, ECU, transmission, modifications and whether faults are found. Oztrack will advise what to expect when the booking is confirmed.

What fuel should be in the vehicle?

Arrive with the fuel the vehicle will normally use and that was agreed for the tune.

Can you tune the automatic transmission?

Yes, where the transmission controller is supported. This may include shift behaviour, torque management, pressure and converter lock-up.

Can a dyno tune fix a mechanical problem?

No. Low fuel pressure, ignition faults, poor compression, boost leaks, wiring faults and transmission problems must be diagnosed and repaired.

Do you only tune LS Commodores?

No. Oztrack tunes many supported Holden, HSV, Ford, Mustang, GM, Jeep, Chrysler and Dodge applications.

Is every vehicle given the same tune?

No. Oztrack reads the original calibration and develops the tune around the individual vehicle, modifications, fuel and logged data.

Can Oztrack tune my vehicle remotely?

Many compatible vehicles can be tuned remotely using EFILive or HP Tuners. Visit the Remote Vehicle Tuning page for details.
