What Is Dyno Tuning?
Dyno tuning allows us to operate your vehicle under controlled load while recording engine, transmission and performance data.
This lets us assess the calibration throughout the RPM and load range rather than relying only on short road logs.
The ECU calibration can then be adjusted to suit the vehicle’s actual hardware, fuel and intended use. Depending on the vehicle, this can include fuel delivery, ignition timing, airflow modelling, throttle response, idle control, torque management and supported automatic transmission settings.

Why Oztrack Uses a Hub Dyno
A Mainline ProHub connects directly to the vehicle’s driven hubs rather than running the tyres on rollers. It gives us a stable platform for controlled and repeatable tuning.
No Tyre Slip
The driven wheels are removed, so tyre slip does not affect the dyno run.
No Strap Variation
The vehicle connects directly to the dyno modules rather than relying on tie-down pressure against rollers.
Controlled Load
The vehicle can be operated through the required RPM and load areas while ECU and transmission data is monitored.
Repeatable Testing
Calibration changes can be tested under consistent dyno conditions.

Vehicle Review
We confirm the engine, transmission, fuel, hardware, modifications and intended use.
Inspection & ECU Read
Diagnostic codes are reviewed and the original supported controller files are read.
Connect to the ProHub
The driven wheels are removed and the vehicle hubs connect directly to the dyno modules.
Baseline & Logging
Initial runs assess relevant fuelling, spark, knock, airflow, temperatures and transmission behaviour.
Custom Calibration
The calibration is adjusted for the individual vehicle, flashed and tested.
Repeat & Refine
Runs are repeated while the calibration is refined through the required load and RPM areas.
Drivability Checks
Idle, throttle response, cruise behaviour and supported transmission operation are checked.
Results & Handover
The final calibration, dyno result and any recommendations are reviewed with the customer.
REAL DATA, NOT A GENERIC CLAIM
A Real Oztrack Dyno Graph
A dyno graph records measured power and torque. Logged ECU and transmission data is also used to assess fuelling, spark, temperatures and operating behaviour.
Peak power is only one part of the result. We also look for smooth delivery, repeatability and behaviour that suits the way the vehicle will be driven.

How much does dyno tuning cost?
Pricing depends on the vehicle, ECU, transmission, modifications, fuel and calibration work required. Send Oztrack the vehicle model, year, engine, transmission, fuel and complete modification list so we can confirm support and pricing before booking.
Do I need to book dyno tuning in advance?
Yes. Dyno tuning should be booked in advance so we can confirm vehicle support and allocate the required dyno time.
How long does a dyno tune take?
The time depends on the vehicle, ECU, transmission, modifications and whether faults are found. Oztrack will advise what to expect when the booking is confirmed.
What fuel should be in the vehicle?
Arrive with the fuel the vehicle will normally use and that was agreed for the tune.
Can you tune the automatic transmission?
Yes, where the transmission controller is supported. This may include shift behaviour, torque management, pressure and converter lock-up.
Can a dyno tune fix a mechanical problem?
No. Low fuel pressure, ignition faults, poor compression, boost leaks, wiring faults and transmission problems must be diagnosed and repaired rather than hidden in the calibration.
Do you only tune LS Commodores?
No. LS-powered Holden and HSV vehicles are a major part of our dyno work, but Oztrack also tunes selected supported Ford, Mustang, GM, Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge, Holden V6 and other applications.
Is every vehicle given the same tune?
No. Oztrack reads the original calibration and develops the tune around the individual vehicle, modifications, fuel and logged data.
Can Oztrack tune my vehicle remotely?
