LS1 Dyno Results at Oztrack

Five different 5.7-litre LS1 combinations, from a stock-cam street car to a high-compression E85 engine. Every result shown here was recorded during tuning at Oztrack in Penrith on our Mainline ProHub dyno.

What can an LS1 make on the dyno?

LS1 results can vary widely because the peak number is only one part of the combination. Intake airflow, exhaust design, camshaft timing, cylinder-head flow, compression ratio, fuel, converter choice and calibration all affect the final power curve.

A stock-cam LS1 with a good intake and exhaust can produce a strong street result, while a cammed engine can gain far more when the valve springs, exhaust and tune suit the camshaft. Cylinder heads, a larger intake manifold and higher compression can move the result further again, but the engine still needs the correct fuel and spark calibration across the full operating range.

Rear-wheel power should not be judged by the peak figure alone. A useful dyno result also shows how the engine carries torque, how cleanly it accelerates and whether the calibration remains consistent under load. Oztrack uses a Mainline ProHub dyno because it connects directly to the vehicle hubs, removing tyre slip and tyre-pressure variation from the test.

Why these LS1 results differ

LS1 dyno tuning questions

How much power can a stock-cam LS1 make?

The examples on this page produced 245.3 to 266.3 rwkW with stock camshafts, depending on intake, exhaust, vehicle and other differences.

How much can a cammed LS1 make?

The small-cam manual example made 313.1 rwkW. The more developed cam, head and intake combinations reached 345.9 and 352.5 rwkW.

Does an automatic LS1 need transmission tuning?

Transmission calibration can improve shift behaviour, torque management and converter operation. The correct approach depends on the gearbox and vehicle combination.

Why use a Mainline ProHub dyno?

The dyno connects directly to the vehicle hubs, removing tyre slip and tyre-pressure variation from the test. This supports consistent data during calibration.

Can Oztrack tune an existing LS1 combination?
